Play Has No Limits: Supporting Every Child Through Play During our lesson on Play for Children with Special Needs and Circumstances , I realized something very important — play is not only for typically developing children. Every child, regardless of their abilities or challenges, deserves the chance to play, explore, and feel included. One Activity, Different Strengths One activity from class that really stayed in my mind was the Chocolate Activity . Everyone was given different choices like creating songs, drawing cartoons, writing stories, designing games, or acting out a role play. At first, it looked like a simple fun activity 🍫 but later I realized something powerful: ✨ Not every child learns in the same way. ✨ Some children express ideas through art. ✨ Some learn better through movement or music. ✨ Others enjoy storytelling or hands-on activities. This connects to the idea of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) — teaching should fit the learner, not force the learner to...

Field Trip to Rinpung

My Visit to Rinpung ECCD Centre: Learning Through Play Visiting Rinpung ECCD helped me understand how important play is in a child’s growth and learning. The center was filled with creative learning spaces where children could freely explore, imagine, and interact with others. What impressed me the most was how simple materials were used in meaningful ways. Children used stones, fabric pieces, and wooden blocks to create their own games and ideas. This type of play encouraged creativity, confidence, and independent thinking instead of following fixed instructions. I also noticed how educators supported children gently without controlling their activities. They observed carefully, asked questions, and encouraged children to solve problems on their own. This created a positive environment where children felt safe and motivated to learn. Another interesting part of the visit was seeing how play helped children develop social and emotional skills. Through pretend play and group a...

Plays Role in Development

Play: The Foundation of Every Child’s Development More Than Just Fun When I was younger, I always thought play was simply about having fun. Whether it was running around with friends, pretending to cook with mud, or building little houses with sand, it never felt like “learning.” But after reflecting on the topic Play and Development , I realized that play is actually one of the most important parts of childhood. It shapes how children think, feel, communicate, and connect with the world around them. The presentation highlighted that play and development are deeply connected. Play reflects development, reinforces development, and even results in development. This idea changed the way I view childhood learning. Children are not “wasting time” when they play, they are building the foundation for their future. How Play Supports Development One thing that stood out to me was how play supports every area of development. Through simple activities, children develop physically, socially,...

Introduction to Play

The Hidden Power of Play: Learning Beyond Toys Play is often seen as something simple and carefree, but in reality, it carries immense power in shaping learning, creativity, and emotional growth. During a classroom discussion on enriching play through materials, I came to realize that even the most ordinary objects can become meaningful tools for expression and discovery. A simple material can hold stories, emotions, and ideas that allow learners to connect deeply with themselves and the world around them.  One activity that stood out to me was reflecting on personal experiences through an everyday  object. It showed how materials can become symbols of our feelings, memories, and identities. Colors, textures, and objects can represent emotions that are sometimes difficult to express through words alone. Through creative play, individuals are given a safe space to release emotions, reflect on experiences, and communicate their inner thoughts in meaningful ways...
